The British Council invites you to be a part of a unique exhibition that promises to bring forth a fresh and exceptional perspective on the modern Olympic Games, exploring their inception and evolution through the powerful medium of the poster. Drawn mainly from the Victoria and Albert Museum’s internationally renowned collection of posters, the exhibition will exhibit many rare and beautiful posters, most of which are on display together for the first time.
What to expect?
More than 70 posters will be showcased in a vibrant display that captures the energy and intensity of the Games themselves. Highlights include the pioneering official Olympic poster produced for the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, and significant works by David Hockney, R.B. Kitaj, Andy Warhol and Victor Vasarely. Important graphic designers whose work is being exhibited include Otl Aicher, Yusaku Kamekura, Armando Testa and Lance Wyman.
This exhibition will etch an exciting moment in history of Olympics, as we look forward to the 2012 Games in London.
