The British Council invites you for ‘Something That I’ll Never Really See’, an exhibition showcasing innovative photography from London’s Victoria and Albert (V & A) Museum. On a six-month tour to different cities in India, the exhibition is specifically focussed on acquiring photographs during the last twenty years, and their holdings reflect some of the best in international photography since the mid 1990s. This exhibition comprises 40 images by more than 30 photographers from around the world, including renowned UK artists such as Gavin Turk and Richard Billingham.
It plays on the notion that the photographer sees a subject through a lens. A photograph is always a translation of reality, seen from the standpoint of the person creating the image as well as from that of the viewer. The grand scale of many of these innovative photographs engrosses the observer in the image, while smaller scale works draw attention to the traditions of photographic history.
