International Writing Competition Inspired by Tagore

The British Council celebrates 150 years of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary with a range of collaborations, performances and publications through 2011-12 titled Tagore Transitions. As a part of the celebration, an international writing competition, ‘Inspired by Tagore’, has been organized for writers from two different age groups namely 8 -15 years & 16 years and above. Entries can be poetry, short stories or reportage, and writers can submit up to 6 pieces of work, maximum length 400 words, using Tagore’s poetry and writing as a starting point.
The winning entries will be published in a book that will be launched in 2012 and winners will be given a copy of this book. Besides this, there will be a special prize for the overall winners. The best writer in 8 - 15 years old category will receive £200 and best writer in 16 years and over category will receive £300. All winning entries will be published.

The competition closes on January 31, 2012 and any writer, from the age of 8 onwards, with an interest in South Asian Culture can participate.
